In his State of the Union speech, President Obama articulated his vision for winning the future by investing in innovative clean energy technologies. However, the current federal budget debate threatens to strip away funding of the Department of Energy (DOE), necessary to meet this administrations objectives.

Reena Thomas, PE, is a California licensed civil engineer with over 12 years of water resources planning and design experience. Her expertise includes master planning, hydraulic modeling, and detailed design of water, wastewater, and recycled water facilities. Other responsibilities include regulatory agency permitting and environmental analysis of utility infrastructure and development projects. She is particularly adept at water supply planning studies, demand analysis, and water conservation planning. Reena is the current President of the Bay Area Water Works Association. She serves as a California Water Environment Association workshop facilitator for the training of public agency staff on Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs) and Sewer System Management Plans (SSMPs).
